During the summer of 2018, inconjuction with a Shift Capital Artist Residency, photographer Jeffrey Stockbridge set up a free portrait studio in an abandoned barber shop on the north corner of Kensington and Allegheny Avenue. For the month of June, Stockbridge offered free portrait sessions to members of the Kensington community. The purpose says Stockbridge is to, “reveal the hope, dignity and diversity that makes Kensington a beautiful neighborhood despite the media’s focus on drugs, poverty and overwhelmingly negative coverage.”
